Peppard class - 3rd November 2023

Welcome to our week in Peppard class.

We started our week with a Pumpkin day.  We looked at a pumpkin and thought about vocabulary to describe it.  We read the story Pumpkin soup. We used the pumpkin and some carrots to make soup.  The children chopped the vegetables, followed instructions, observed the cooking process and used their maths.  They then tasted their soup!  And didn't like it very much - oh well ..... 

In the afternoon, we read the story Cinderella.  We thought it would be lovely if our pumpkin had turned into a carriage.  We had a discussion about how we should treat other people.  We then desiged beautiful dresses for Cinderella.  Finally, during continuous provision, we used playdough, story telling resources and drawing to complete some Cinderella based activities.

In phonics this week, we have recapped our sounds so far, particularly focused on the most recent.  We also practised our tricky words.  We have been reading and writing CVC words.  You are welcome to attend a phonics and reading session at 9 am next Friday morning.  

The children have been rehearsing for their part in the Remembrance service which will be held in the Church next Wednesday.
