Peppard class - 17th November 2023
Date: 13th Nov 2023 @ 7:55pm
Welcome to our week in Peppard class.
Thank you for coming to watch your children do their phonics lesson. I know you will be feeling proud as they are wonderfully behaved and progressing so well.
Our sounds this week have been - v, w, x, y and z
Our tricky words are - and, has, his, her, go
In maths this week, we have been learning about 4 and 5, we have also started to learn number bonds. We enjoyed the story Pete the Cat and his 4 shiny buttons. We made some pictures based on this story. We have also been practising using mathematical language when we designed and made our own obstacle course.
In our Understanding of the world lessons, we have been learning about the festival of Diwali. The children watched a video about the festival and they did some wonderful art activities.
In literacy, we have read the story Stickman by Julia Donaldson. We talked about the different feelings that Stickman would have experienced throughout the story. The children thought of some wonderful vocabulary including, scared, sleepy, sad, joyful, cross, happy. cold, excited, freezing, lonely, worried and surprised. We then made collages of our favourite part of the story.
We love to make our own snack shop in the morning and the children are so accurate when counting out their counters to pay for their snacks. We have also introduced the 10 frame during snack time.
Congratulations Frida for your starbook this week. You made beautiful Diwali creations.
