Highmoor 8th November
Date: 8th Nov 2024 @ 1:49pm
Welcome back to school. The class have returned to school happy and raring to go!
In literacy this half term we are focusing on fairy tales with a particular emphasis on Hansel and Gretel - we will read Michael Morpurgo's version and Anthony Brown's and compare the two. We thought about all the things we already knew about fairy tales, which turned out to be a lot, and added them to a spider diagram. We spent time reading, understanding and learning the poem Taking a Stand ready to perform it for you in the church at our Remembrance Service. Thank you to those of you that could make it.
In maths we have been recapping column addition and subtraction and have been using these skills to solve word problems. We also did some estimating of answers.
Our geography topic this half term is Coasts. We located different coastal towns, bays and beaches on a map of Great Britain and discussed some of the features we can see and things we can do while at the coast.
We started off our new science topic of rocks and fossils by inspecting examples of the three different types of rock and identifying their characteristics.
We are loving both our PE sessions. Both gym and rugby are looked forward to and enjoyed by all.
Homework is reading every day, times tables, Doodle maths and spellings. Thank you for your support with this.
Havs a great weekend all.
