Highmoor 7th March

Date: 7th Mar 2025 @ 1:21pm

Welcome to our week in Highmoor.

It's been another busy week with lots going on for us. On Monday we did our speech awards. The children's hard work really paid off and everyone should be very proud of themselves for what they achieved. They all did a really fantastic job. Thank you for your support with this.

On Wednesday we had a visit from Joe from Henley Youth Festival who taught us 2 new songs. We had lots of fun with him and some of us will get to perform them at the Kenton next week.

Thursday was world book day and we got to spend some time in Greys class with the younger children sharing stories with them. Some fantastic outfits were on show too!

In maths we have moved on to fractions. We focused on unit fractions to start (a fraction where the numerator is 1) and investigated how the bigger the denominator the smaller the fraction. We then thought about how changing the numerator affected the fraction and moved on to the whole.

We have been looking at the features of non chronological reports in literacy. We arranged sentences about tigers into paragraphs and gave them subheadings. We then moved on to our own misfit creature and wrote about its appearance ready for our own non chronological reports.

In history we learnt about what a civilisation is and compared ancient Egypt to the Shang dynasty in China, the Indo Valley civilisation and the Sumerians and looked at common features.

Outdoor drawing in art on Thursday was lots of fun, we used our observation skills to study trees and draw the Peppard Common landscape in the sunshine.

PE this week was more hockey skills on Tuesday and working on our map making skills for orienteering on Monday.

Have a great weekend all.
