Highmoor 6th December

Date: 6th Dec 2024 @ 1:58pm

Welcome to our week in Highmoor.

We have been learning the column multiplication method in maths. We used place value counters to help us understand exactly what we were doing and are all making good progress with using this method to solve 1 digit x 2 digit calculations. We also multiplied numbers by 10 and were shifting each digit one column to the left in a place value chart to visualise this.

In literacy we have been rewriting part of the story of Hansel and Gretel. We included lots of features such as similes, adverbial phrases, conjunctions, speech. We have worked hard planning, editing and writing our work and will continue with this next week.

We watched a video in RE retelling the story of the birth of Jesus and thought about Mary and how she felt throughout.

It was all things fossils in science this week with a carousel of activities and making our own fossils which we will excavate before the end of term. We also were able to hold a trilobite fossil which was around 450 million years old!

We had lots of fun in rugby and as you can see from the photo we got a little bit muddy!

Homework is reading, Doodle maths, times tables and spellings.

Have a great weekend all.
