Highmoor 4th October
Date: 4th Oct 2024 @ 3:13pm
Welcome to our week in Highmoor.
In maths we have moved on to addition and subtraction. We have been using number lines, our number bond knowledge and counting in 10s from any given number to help with trickier problems.
We wrote extended sentences in literacy using conjunctions and adverbs and adverbial phrases. We changed where we put the adverbial phrase in the sentence for effect.
Our trip to see Hannah Gold talk about her new book Turtle Moon at the Henley Literary Festival was great fun and extremely interesting. She talked about her own love of animals, how she became an author and that one of her books is being made into a film! Wren went on stage and did a great turtle impression, we all learned that Leatherback Turtles are 8 feet long and Bode told everyone about his cousin who is currently working to help save the turtles! Everyone went home with a signed book and much enthusiasm to get reading!!
In music we started learning to play london’s burning on the recorder.
We had lovely book reviews from Bea and Anna who talked about Charlie and the Chocolate factory and George’s Marvellous Medicine. Next week’s reviewers are Teddy and Ava.
In geography we investigated the different uses of rivers from industry and leisure, forming part of the water cycle to providing habitats for wildlife.
Thank you to those of you that could make the church service. It was lovely to see so many of you there.
Homework is reading, times tables, doodle maths and spellings.
Have a lovely weekend!
