Highmoor 28th February
Date: 28th Feb 2025 @ 8:11am
Welcome to our week in Highmoor. We hope you all had a lovely half term.
We read ‘The Barnabus Project’ in literacy about a half mouse half elephant toy living in captivity with other failed toys. We explored the themes in the book, held a debate, designed our own misfit toy and wrote a newspaper report about them!
In maths we learnt about perimeter. We measured 2D shapes using rulers and string and worked out their perimeter and solved problems involving perimeter and missing numbers.
We continued to learn about the Egyptians in history and will move on to other ancient civilisations next week.
In PE this half term we are working on team game skills and map reading/orienteering in one lesson and ball skills needed for football and hockey in the other. We enjoyed using our hockey sticks to carefully control the ball around a course in the playground. We looked at some art for inspiration for our own mark-making in our art lesson. We considered tone, depth and speed of our marks and the different effects we could make.
We spent this morning learning about the digestive system in Science and made a model showing all the important parts!
The children all had a chance to go through the different elements of their speech awards and are more than ready to do the assessment on Monday next week. Well done to all of them and thank you to parents and carers for your support.
Please don’t forget homework - reading, times tables, Doodle maths and spellings.
Have a great weekend all.
