Highmoor 27th September
Date: 27th Sep 2024 @ 3:10pm
Welcome to our week in Highmoor.
In maths we were comparing and ordering numbers up to 1000 and counting in 50s. We made targets scoring in 50s and played tiddlywinks!
We continued to read The Firework Maker’s Daughter in literacy. We acted out the arguement between Lila and her father and then wrote letters in character as Lila. We had great book reviews from Freddie who reviewed Nelson, a story about facing your fears in the form of a scary rooster and Lily reviewed Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. She rated it 5 stars out of 5.
In music we revised our knowledge of orchestral instruments and their families and rounded the lesson off by taking turns to take the lead in the music man song.
We learned about the water cycle in geography. We drew diagrams to show the processes of evaporation, condensation and precipitation.
In science we experimented with ramps and blocks made of different materials to find the combinations with the most and least friction. We then used some secondary sources to find out more and used our knowledge to create a Venn diagram about activities and friction. We discovered that without friction we couldn’t stand up and that our pants would fall down!
Please don’t forget homework. Doodle maths, reading, spelling and times tables. Thank you for your support with this.
Have a great weekend.
