Highmoor 22nd November
Date: 22nd Nov 2024 @ 2:00pm
Welcome to our week in Highmoor.
We have moved on to our next topic in maths - multiplication and division. We have been using arrays to help us understand multiplication, investigating equal groups and looking at multiples of 2, 5 and 10.
In literacy we have been looking at similes and metaphors and trying to use them in our writing about different characters and objects from fairy tales. We also did some reading comprehension about Little Red Riding Hood. We got hands on and tried to use our knowledge of speech punctuation to sort out how to use the punctuation properly.
Our geography topic of coasts continued this week with looking at the physical features that we can find around our coasts such as cliffs, bays, dunes, stacks and stumps.
We investigated the different stories in the bible in which Mary features in RE and drew pictures to illustrate them.
Our sessions at Kennylands continue and we are loving going there. Have a look at the photos to see the kind of things we've been up to. We had a very chilly rugby lesson and did a lot of running to keep warm and focused on defensive and attacking strategies, changing our pace and direction to evade the opposition.
In science we learned about how both sedimentary and metamorphic rocks are formed. We built sandcastles to demonstrate the stages of sedimentary rock formation and then examined and sorted a selection of rocks using our knowledge of how the two types are formed.
Homework is Doodle maths, times tables, reading and spellings.
Have a great weekend all.
