Highmoor 15th November
Date: 15th Nov 2024 @ 2:12pm
Welcome to our week in Highmoor.
We read Anthony Brown’s version of Hansel and Gretel. We learnt new vocabulary, improved sentences and loved looking at the detailed pictures which really helped us work on our inference skills. We are also reading Into The Forest by Anthony Brown and it is fun comparing the two books.
In maths we worked on our number bonds to 100, estimating and using the inverse operation to check if an answer is correct or to figure out missing numbers.
In science we soaked three types of rock in water to see which one was the most porous. We weighed them every minute and recorded their mass. The igneous rock was the most porous when it was held under the water to stop it floating away! It was pumice.
Our big RE question this term is Does the Christmas narrative need Mary? We started by looking at different images of Mary and looked at their similarities and differences and then we learnt about symbols associated with Mary.
In recent weeks our art lessons have involved constructing, designing and illustrating our very own nursery rhyme books. We have used our painting and drawing skills and worked very hard to produce high quality artwork. The results are beautiful!
Don’t forget homework - reading, times tables, Doodle maths and spelling.
Have a great weekend all.
