Highmoor 14th February
Date: 14th Feb 2025 @ 8:08pm
Welcome to our week in Highmoor.
In maths we have continued working on measurement of length using mm, cm and m. We worked out equivalent lengths and compared objects, we measured items in the classroom and we solved problems involving length.
We planned and wrote our newspaper reports about the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb. We included quotes from Howard Carter and others involved and used direct and indirect speech to do so.
We had a great time on Tuesday on our trip to the Museum of Ure. We learnt how important the afterlife was to Egyptians and re-enacted a scene from the Book of the Dead where the deceased persons heart is weighed against a feather to determine if they can pass to the afterlife. We became archaeologists and got to handle ancient artefacts whilst trying to determine what they were used for and made of and what that told us about life in ancient Egypt. We carefully observed and drew artefacts and even watched a fish being mummified and got to bring it back to the classroom to observe changes over time.
In PE we finished our Egyptian dance unit and had a go at devising our own routines.
Dont forget that speech awards are next term. On Tuesday 25th February the children will do a run through ready for the final assessment on Monday 3rd March.
Have a great half term everyone.
