What a busy term we have had!
English
In English this term we have been writing explanation texts about healthy lifestyles and creating travel brochures persuading people to visit the UK. We have learned new vocabularly and used interesting description as as learned how to use commas in lists, exclamation marks for expression and expanded noun phrases for description. As part of our English and geography topics we visited Tescos in Henley to identify where our food comes from, how healthy different foods are and how it gets to our plates. Whilst we were there we also visited the token box to see how our generous community has been helping support our school.
Maths
We have been doing a lot of maths! We started the term with addition and subtraction and finished it off with measuring in centimeters. There were plenty of units in between too such as place value and multiplication and division. We have been doing a lot of our maths lesson outside in the lovely sunshine, and have been drawing numbers sentences on the ground with chalk and measuring equipment in the playground with metre sticks. We have also been enjoying playing Hit the Button on the interactive whiteboard which has been helping our times tables, number bonds and halving and doubling facts.
Music
We had two visitors into our classroom from Henley Youth Festival. We had great fun learning new songs and listening to different instruments like treble recorders and clarinets being played. It was especially fun watching the teachers attempt to play the air tubes in front of the whole school.
Sports
We took part in a football tournament at Kidmore End School. Everyone had great fun and we all showed enthusiasm and humility against the other school teams. We also came back to school with a trophy which was really exciting and we have displayed it on its own shelf in our classroom.
DT
Staying with our healthy lifestyles topic, we made smoothies for DT day. We had great fun tasting ingredients and coming up with our own bespoke recipes before making the smoothie in blenders. Some of us tasted fruits that we have never tasted before. We also enjoyed designing the packaging for the outside of our smoothie cups.
Mindfulness
We have been talking a lot about mindfulness this term and have been taking part in sessions in the morning to help us feel happy, relaxed and ready for the day. We have discussed how activities such as going outside and doing a drawing, reading a book, or simply laying down and thinking about happy thoughts can help our minds and bodies feel happy and healthy.
We have another busy term next term. Have a wonderful, relaxing Easter and we will see you next term
