This week brought exciting achievements in athletics and art, showcasing both our sporting abilities and creative talents!
Sportshall Athletics
On Tuesday, our whole class headed to the sports hall for an action-packed athletics session. We tried our hand at a variety of track and field events including standing long jump and triple jump. One of the highlights was participating in the parlauf relays, which got everyone's competitive spirit going! The event was a great opportunity for us to challenge ourselves and support our classmates across different athletic disciplines.
Art
This week marked the exciting conclusion of our fashion design project as we finished attaching our carefully crafted outfits to our cardboard models. The final results were impressive, with each design showing incredible creativity through different styles, vibrant colours, and unique patterns. It was wonderful to see how everyone interpreted modern designs from different cultures in their own distinctive way.
English
We've finished reading the powerful story "The Island" by Armin Greder. The class then took on an imaginative writing task, starting to create our own endings to the story from either the fisherman's or the stranger's perspective. It was a thought-provoking exercise that challenged us to see the world through different eyes, resulting in some wonderfully creative and empathetic pieces of writing. We will finish them in the week ahead.
Next week:
- Young Voices for Year 6 on Tuesday. Year 5s will join Highmoor class after lunch on Tuesday for History and PE.
- Football tournament on Thursday
- End of half term on Friday
