At last, the last week of term!
We started the week with DT Day. The children all had a great time designing and sewing their own soft toys. They made a pattern, pinned the pattern to the felt and cut their toy out. Then the two sides were sewn together using a blanket stitch. Lastly, stuffing was placed inside the toy and it was sewn up. The toys were great.
On Wednesday we visited the Reading Museum as part of our History curriculum. The children experienced what it could have been like in a Victorian classroom, and although they enjoyed it, they definitely were relieved they weren't alive in Victorian times. After lunch they learnt about Huntleys and Palmers biscuit factory and how it impacted the lives of those in and around Reading.
On Thursday evening we all gathered at All Saints Church for the Christingle service. It was such a special time for our whole school family. Our recorder group played "Joy to the World" and the year 6s led us in the singing of "Hope of Heaven." As Mr Steele said, it really does now feel like Christmas.
Thank you, parents, all for the beautiful Christmas gifts. You have been so generous and thoughtful.
Wishing you all a very merry Christmas!
Love form Mrs Parsons and Mrs Elson
