This week we were delighted to welcome Amanda Watkins-Cooke to Springwood Class. She'll be supporting our learning every Monday to Wednesday throughout this half term.
Computing
What an exciting introduction to micro:bits this week! These amazing little pocket-sized computers are packed with features like LED lights, buttons, and sensors. Using the school Chromebooks, we connected our micro:bits and dove into block coding through Microsoft MakeCode. It was fantastic seeing our code come to life as we created flashing heart animations and programmed different greeting messages to scroll across the LED display. The great thing about micro:bits is how they let us see our coding in action right away on the device.
Science
Our journey through the human circulatory system continued this week. We've been working hard on writing explanation texts about how the heart works. It's fascinating learning about this incredible organ that keeps us alive!
PE
We've had a really diverse week in PE with two exciting activities. On Monday, we got moving with some energetic street dance moves. Later in the week, Amanda took us out to the common where we practiced our netball skills through various drills and exercises. It was great to develop different types of movement and coordination through these activities.
Reminders:
