Happy New Year from Springwood class, we are looking forward to an exciting term ahead. 

PE

This term we will be taking part in hockey on Mondays's at our site up the road, as well as visiting Kennylands Gym on Wednesday afternoons. We had our first gym session this week which was really fun and the coaches introduced us to equipment such as the beams where we were practicing our dismounts, front somersaults on the springboard and floor tricks such as back hand springs over a barrell. We are looking forward to next week where we will be introduced to more equipment within the gym. 

History

Our new topic this term is Anglo Saxons and Scots. Mrs Parsons introduced the topic and we learned about where

they travelled from and then looked at different pieces of evidence to investigate why they decided to leave their countries in Northern Europe and Ireland to invade Britain. We were history detectives! Later on in the term we will be visiting The museumn of Oxford where we will be taking part in a workshop to learn and experience more.

Science

We had our first lesson on our new topic of light today. We investigated how light travels using our own research to demonstrate our findings. We were allowed to use any equipment we could find in the classroom to prove our findings and then we made a short presentation explaining these. We had to make the classroom dark during our investigating and we used equipment such as torches and mirrors.
