What a busy few weeks we have had in Springwood class.

Henley Literary Festival

Last Friday we attended a talk at the Henley Literary Festival. Anita Mangan, who illustrates books for her brother, told us all about her journey as a book illustrator. She even showed us how to draw one of her favourite characters, and we all attempted to do so. It was loads of fun, and we got to meet her afterwards.

Geography

We have been looking at the areas in which we live, and what facilities and homes each area has. We then set about designing sustainable houses for our areas. We had to think about what materials to use in the making of our houses, whether we should have solar panels or wind turbines, and how best we can use all the rain water we get in the UK.

Science

We live in an amazing universe, and we have been learning all about our solar system. We chose a planet to research, and have been writing a one-page guide to the planet. Next up will be the Moon.

English

Our favourite part of English is when we see how using commas correctly can save lives. For example. "Let's eat Grandma!" or "Let's eat, Grandma!" or Jane loves cooking her family and doing art. The comma makes all the difference.
