Springwood’s Week 4th April 2014

This week started off with a surprise package arriving from Bled – our pen pals had written us the most fantastic letters in English with some really useful Slovenian dictionaries on the back. We decided to write some Easter themed letters back to them and hopefully they will arrive in time. We also sent some video messages to them; click on the link below to see one of them:

In Literacy we have been looking at different styles of writing and this week have been working on a radio transcript – we used our success criteria to make sure we had everything in them and then used our editing skills to further improve the writing. We looked closely at punctuation and subordinate clauses to enhance our writing.

In Maths we have been revising the column method for addition and subtraction of both whole numbers and decimals. We used a list of numbers to create our own sums – some of us got a bit carried away making rather large decimal numbers.

In topic we finished our leaders of the war posters which linked to a piece of persuasive writing we did earlier in the week. We had collected all the facts using the netbooks but we had to put them into persuasive captions on our posters.

On Thursday we went to church for the Easter Service, in which we sang The Servant King and recited an Easter poem – Miss Hudson and Mrs Pitson were incredibly proud of our performance.

Have a peaceful and relaxing Easter.
