Springwood’s Week 14th February 2014

Although this week is the last week of term that hasn’t stopped the hard work in Springwood Class. In maths we have been learning about angles, we have been working out missing angles on a straight line and in a triangle. We have spent the morning making a range of 3D shapes from nets and listing their features using mathematical language. Miss Hudson has also introduced some very tricky mental maths tests which we have been doing daily and trying to beat our score.

In literacy we have been doing loads of writing to build up our stamina – we have written a playscript, a narrative story and even a letter to the Natural History Museum.

We were asked this week to write a piece for the Henley Standard about our twinning with the school in Bled – here is a photo of us with the letters we received from our pen pals.

We have rounded off our Heroes topic this week by considering how our heroes have changed in the last six weeks. We had a very interesting discussion about all that we have learnt this term, we surprised ourselves with how much we have covered and the random facts we now know. We made posters advertising our hero using the words we had collected on the empty person. Here are a few examples.

We made our last batch of soup this week – carrot and coriander which was delicious especially after a cold swimming lesson on Thursday. Thank you so much to Mrs Brealey for helping us this term.

Have a lovely half term break!
