Literacy support

There are many ways that you are able to support your child in literacy.

In early years, practising phonics at home, helps with giving children building blocks that will enable them to be successful readers.

Daily reading is essential, both for progress and continued enjoyment. All children also read daily at school, with reading activities taking place for forty minutes every day.

Children also visit Sonning Common Library, at least once a term. It’s open at weekends too.

The library is a valuable resource for us, as we do not have one of our own. It is also possible to borrow ebooks and audio books for free from them too.
