This week in numeracy we have been learning about parts of a whole and looking at ways to record using decimals and fractions. We spent time matching pairs of decimals and fractions and began to add decimal numbers together.
On Tuesday we learned about the artistic hero Alison Lapper. Alison is a hero for overcoming physical difficulty and persevering with her dream of being an artist despite having no arms. After reading her story and admiring some of the work she has produced, we had a go at painting the way she does, with our mouths, and found out just how hard it really is!
After much discussion, we decided that people who lived during the time of the Second World War are also heroes for being so brave in the circumstances; in particular, the children who were evacuated. We started reading The War and Freddy and used the netbooks to research what life was really like at that time.
On Friday, we went to Henley Leisure Centre to compete in a year 3 and 4 indoor athletics tournament. 8 local schools were there in total all taking part in a number of different field and track events. Everybody tried extremely hard and once again, did Peppard proud. After lots of team work and cheering we finished in 7th place.
I hope the homework leaflets are going well. Please bring them back to school Tuesday next week. Times tables homework did not go out today due to the athletics event. It will be given out Monday.
Have a lovely weekend.
