Greys 24th June

Greys class have had another busy week.

In Literacy they have been exploring feelings in Poetry and thought about how they would feel if they could and couldn’t do certain things.

They conducted a few experiments to help them decide. Some of us patted our heads and rubbed our tummies at the same time.

A few more of us then decided to give this a go.

In Maths the Year1s have been finding the difference between 2 numbers up to 20 by counting on and subtracting. They used their number bonds to help them and have enjoyed playing the Number Bond Challenge to 20 this week. The Year 2s have been looking at the place value of 3 digit numbers and placing 3 digit numbers on number lines. They used calculators to investigate different ways of removing and adding hundreds, tens or ones to a figure.

In Topic we learned all about St Ives and compared it to Henley. We also had to plot a route of five different places we would like to visit in St Ives and find out more about them.

This term in Computing we will be learning to use the internet. We began by accessing http://kids.nineplanets.org/intro.htm and matched the pictures to the names of the different planets. Once we had done this we discovered lots of fascinating facts about the planets.

Mrs Clinkard has been busy teaching us our new song for ‘Dream On’ and choreographing our routine and we already know quite a few of the words and moves. Everybody should now have received their letter regarding costume requirements, Greys class will all need white shorts and a plain white round necked t-shirt.

In French we have been learning the months of the Year and can now count up to 49 in French!

It was lovely to see everybody enjoy Sports Day on Friday evening and a big well done to all the children.

Can I please ask that all children have their full PE kits in school every day. On Monday there were 6 children without PE kits. A gentle reminder about water bottles too, as there are quite a few children regularly not bringing these in. Reading books and reading records also need to be in school every day.

Show and Tell next week will be based on our new topic of Transport

Have a lovely weekend!
